Dr. Barbara B. Howard is an Assistant Professor in School Administration in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies in the Reich College of Education of Appalachian State University. She has served public schools as a teacher and administrator at the building and Central Office levels. She is also a former Project Director in Assessment, Accountability and Standards for SERVE, the Southeastern Regional Education Lab, where she worked with districts and state departments in research and development projects for teacher and principal evaluation and classroom assessment. She is currently working in the area of classroom assessment standards for k-12 teachers and investigating the impact of technology on student engagement and learning. She teaches The Principalship (LSA 5030), School-based Evaluation (RES 5070), Supervision and Practicum (LSA 5900), Critical Issues (LSA 5800) in the Masters of School Administration Program.
