A former South Carolina public school principal and superintendent who served on several state educational committees including among others, school finance, technology, and accountability. He was selected by two governors to be the Governor's representative on the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee (EOC). His scholarly interests include educational policy, educational and constitutional law, religion and public schools, as well as the culture wars in the United States. His hobbies include studying military history and practicing Yang Style Tai Chi. Since coming to Appalachian State University he has taught courses in the Principalship, Developing and Managing School Resources, School Law, Critical Issus in Education, and the Principal Internship.
