Higher Education Scholarships

  • Jim Jackson Scholarship
    This scholarship is to assist students enrolled in Higher Education Graduate Program who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
     
  • Mary Kistler Scholarship
    Established in 1991 by Mr. Thomas L. Kistler in loving memory of his wife, Mary Jane Kistler, this scholarship is designed to assist students enrolled in educational leadership programs.

School Administration Scholarships

  • Mary Kistler Scholarship
    Established in 1991 by Mr. Thomas L. Kistler in loving memory of his wife, Mary Jane Kistler, this scholarship is designed to assist students enrolled in educational leadership programs.
     
  • Jerome H. Melton Endowment for Teaching and School Administration Income
    To provide support to undergraduate students who are pursuing a career in teaching and/or graduate students who are pursuing a career in teaching and/or graduate students who are pursuing a career in school administration.

Library Science Scholarships

  • Eunice Query Scholarship for Library Science students
    This is a scholarship awarded to a fully accepted Library Science student (beginning or continuing) at Appalachian.
     
  • Sally H. Taylor Scholarship for Library Science students
    This is a scholarship awarded to a fully accepted Library Science student on the promise of outstanding ability and success in the profession of school librarianship.
     
  • Louise Moore Plybon Scholarship for Library Science students
    This is a scholarship awarded to a student who shows promise of outstanding ability in the profession of librarianship.
     
  • Vera Bolick Melton Scholarship for Library Science students
    Scholarship support for graduate students majoring in Library Science or undergraduate students majoring in teacher education. Preference for students with financial need, documentation of verifiable need not required. RCOE administers.

Graduate Assistantships

Students interested in Graduate Assistantships in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies should note their interest in their online application. Once the application has been processed and the student has confirmed acceptance of admission, an email with an attached resume should be submitted to Jackie Ward (wardjc@appstate.edu). The priority deadline for fall terms is May 1, but applications are accepted until all positions are filled. A limited number of graduate assistantships are also available for summer terms; the deadline for summer terms is April 15 or until the positions are filled.

Graduate Assistantships are also available in other areas of the university. Students in the Higher Education Program may be particularly interested in assistantships in the Division of Student Development. Click here for more information. NOTE: Interviews are held in February.

Out-of-State Tuition Scholarships

A very limited number of Out-of-State Tuition Scholarships are available each year. To apply, please send an email with an attached resume to Dr. Amy Trawick, Program Director, Higher Education (trawickar@appstate.edu). The priority deadline is May 1.
